The Clarkson family has been building pools in North Florida for three generations, but it was in 1989 that John Clarkson formally established Pools by John Clarkson, seeking to create a company focused on innovation and high-quality pool construction. His vision for premium designs, customer-first service, and exceptional craftsmanship quickly set the company apart in Jacksonville’s competitive pool industry.
Visionary Leadership
John Clarkson’s deep passion for pool construction began in the 1960s, working alongside his father in their family’s pool business. By the 1970s and 1980s, he was leading the company. In 1989, he founded Pools by John Clarkson, focusing on creating exceptional pools with innovative designs, modern construction techniques, and unique water features. John was also one of the first to attend the Genesis 3 design school, where he learned modern pool design principles that continue to influence our work today. Our Design Consultant Training Program ensures that our design consultants are continually developing their skills to deliver pools that are beautiful, functional, and lasting.
Our Evolution: Expanding Beyond Pools
As customer preferences evolved, so did we. In 2017, we expanded our services to meet the growing demand for comprehensive outdoor living spaces. This marked the launch of our Outdoor Living Division, creating beautiful backyards that go beyond pools, offering everything from outdoor kitchens to cabanas and living spaces. Our 2010 launch of the Pool Care Division ensures we continue to offer exceptional service throughout the life of each pool, providing maintenance, repair, and renovation services with the same level of quality and commitment.

In 2024, we embarked on a significant rebranding initiative, unveiling the new name and identity of Clarkson Pools. While the name has changed, our dedication to quality and customer service remains at the heart of everything we do. As we look ahead, we remain family-owned and operated, with John Clarkson’s sons, Jordan and Judd, now at the helm of the company. The rebrand reflects the next generation of leadership and the continued evolution of Clarkson Pools as a full-service pool and outdoor living provider.
